Weight On Other Planets

Your weight on other planets is different because the gravity is different. You have not changed of course, so your mass is always the same. We can calculate our weight by multiplying our mass with the gravity on the surface of the planet.
Weight = Mass x Surface Gravity
So, if you know your weight on Earth and the surface gravity on Earth, you can calculate your mass. You can then calculate your weight on any other planet by using the surface gravity of that planet in the same equation.

But most of us having a misconception with the mass and weight. What is your weight? May be 50kg or 60kg. But this is actually not your weight. This is the mass of your body. Confusing? Let me explain about this.

During early period the mass is considered as weight. That is followed still now. The word “WEIGHT” which is used to denote our mass is a noun. All the devices like weight measure machine measure our mass not the weight. Then what is our mass?

As explained in the above formula weight can be calculated by multiplying your mass (weight) with surface gravity (9.81 m/s2 for Earth). Unit for weight is Newton. For example my mass is 50 kg, then my actual weight is 490.5 N.


I hope now you are got an idea about mass and weight. Mass is constant on anywhere. But based on the different gravity on the other planet, weight will be changed on every planet.
